COVID Collective Memory

I want to interview my mother because she has been working through the entire pandemic as an insurance agent. She has been working as an insurance agent for a while now, so I wanted to know if and what has changed in her daily work life with a pandemic.

My main sort of theme that I am going to surround my research project around is workers and the pandemic. Two sources that I have used are “What It’s Like to Start a New Job During the COVID-19 Pandemic” by Sean Scott and “‘I Cry Before Work’: US Essential Workers Burned Out Amid Pandemic” by Michael Sainato. Both are articles that have personal experiences from workers in the pandemic.

Some guiding questions I have for my research project is 1) what does the word “essential” mean to an essential worker? and 2) how has your mental health been affected from work during a pandemic?

I want my project to teach readers about how stressful this time was for the people that kept the country going. Essential workers did not get the proper support and recognition that they deserve.
